WHO IS PROTUNES?

Humble Beginnings

Christan J. Edwards a Trinidadian Native who resides in Flatbush, Brooklyn, was introduced to the power of music and the art and mastery of being a DJ by a former Local DJ; his father Christopher Edwards.  From a very young age, Christan developed a love and a feel for combining music, and later followed in the same footsteps as his father.  Developing his craft on equipment such as L.P's, 45 Records, Turntables, Amplifiers, Processors, Mixers and speakers, Christan decided to make Dj-ing an important factor within his life.

Becoming DJ Protunes
After Moving to the United States at the age of 13, Christan took a break from his passion to focus on school, but still keeping up with the art through some of his influences like DJ’s Jazzy Jeff, D. Camilo and David Guetta.  At the age of 16, fate placed him in the presence of a man named DJ Jap who later became one of his very good friends. DJ Jap introduced Christan to the newest wave in Dj-ing; trading the Turntables for a Computer.  Using Virtual DJ Christan learned how to mix, blend, and making sample mixes from his house for his family to hear. Encouraged by the feedback he received, Christan later took his learning to a higher level by upgrading to Serato Scratch Live.  With his Skills intact, there was only one thing left to do…create a name; Ultimatley DJ Protunes was born.

“A New Experience”

At the age of 18 DJ Protunes made his debut was a backyard party in Queens. The response from the party-goers was so positive that he landed gigs every weekend afterwards, thus sparking the take-off of his career.  Mastering a plethora of genres such as  Hip-Hop, R&B, Reggae, Soca, Dancehall, Pop, and Techno, Protunes’ work ethic and ambition led him from word of mouth throughout the community, to opportunities Dj-ing in several Clubs, High School and College Parties; later elevating to various concerts around the Tri- State Area and other states along the East Coast.
